Esomar Council Elections 2021 - I'm Standing!
After years of pondering, I've decided to throw my hat in the ring for the upcoming 2021 Esomar Council elections.
Esomar is the only truly global research organisation out there - and if my voice and energy can support its efforts, than all the better.
Can I count on your vote? If you're an ESOMAR member, it would be much appreciated.
Why vote for me? Here's my pitch:
- Firstly, I have a unique industry perspective – having worked on client side, both B2C and B2B, then with advertising agencies, and of course market research.
I have worked both in the UK and in Germany, qual and quant. I have a particular passion for qualitative research – the smaller but very important segment of our industry, with a unique ability to tease out hidden motivations.
- Secondly, I am a strong believer in profile raising – if people don’t know about us, how can they even consider the relevance?
It’s something I do in my current role with Happy thinking People, also here on my own blogpost. I would bring this marketing and communciations skill set to bear for ESOMAR.
- Thirdly and finally, I believe in the power of reaching out across boundaries, whether that is geographical or by discipline.
Sticking with the latter: market research benefits strongly by engaging systematically with other adjacent disciplines – be it marketing, R&D, IT, Finance or Big Data.
Call it switching swim lanes, it’s something I have done throughout my long career in research.
A languages graduate, I then trained as a quantitative researcher. I am a Six Sigma Green Belt, acquired with Avery Dennison. I ran my own consultancy for 5 years.
By reaching across boundaries, we apply our own skills more effectively. We get taken more seriously by other, possibly more influential disciplines or departments.
ESOMAR is uniquely placed as a big-tent global organization that can help this process of cross-fertilization.
That's it. Pitch over. Please vote - and why not for me ;)
Don't forget: the deadline for vote is March 12.
Finally, I wish my fellow contestants - you can see the full list here Esomar Council Candidates 2021- the best of luck!
